Reminder: All new homeowners should file for homestead exemption by March 31.

A homestead tax exemption exempts a percentage of your home’s assessed value or a specific dollar amount from being taxed. This exemption only applies to your primary residence; it cannot be applied to rental or investment properties. By filing homestead exemption you keep your taxes as low as possible based on your tax qualifications. Failing to file by March 31 will result in an increase in your taxes which could cost you hundreds, maybe thousands, of dollars each year.

On the right are links to the Central Mississippi tri-county tax pages, as well as Lafayette and DeSoto counties. If your county is not included, you can do a simple online search for "{your county/parish} homestead exemption" to find the correct information for your area.
